Tips to losing weight

Hi,

It's been a while I must admit things at work have been amazingly busy

As a result my opportunity to train has been really limited. I've been working in excess of 60/70 hour weeks so there is zero time to fit in training.

So I decided it was time to try something that I've tried and tested in the past.

MP MAX Elle True Diet

Now I know what you may be thinking. This is geared towards women. That may essentially be true, however when you look at the contents you'll find the ingredients are exactly what you need to aid in dieting:

Ingredients:
Protein Blend (Whey Protein Concentrate*, Milk Protein Concentrate, Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin), Oat Flour, Fat-Reduced Cocoa Powder (chocolate variety only), Conjugated Linoleic Acid, Fructo-oligosaccharide, Flavouring, Colour (Beetroot Red)(strawberry variety only), Guarana Extract, Medium Chain Tri-Glycerides, Green Tea Extract, Sweetener (Sucralose), Vitamin B12,  Black Pepper Extract, Chromium Chloride Hexahydrate. *From Milk

For me (and you) the a few main ingredients in there that really benefit weight loss:

Protein Blend: As well as being high in amino acids, It is also as really useful tool as a food supplement. Protein isn't stored as fat and It can make you feel full. Combine this with the low carbohydrate content (4.8g per scoop of 28g) and it's an ideal meal replacement.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA: This is a naturally occuring fatty acid that's found in meat and some dairy products. It helps with weight loss by reducing body fat and promoting lean muscle

Guarana and Green Tea: Both of these are rich in caffeine. It helps to increase metabolism and supressing appetite.

So my diet involves taking a shake for breakfast. This instantly get's my body temperature up and leaves me feeling full enough for the start to the day.

I try to stick to a regimented diet throughout the week so I'll have one snack a day (11am or 3/4pm) that will be a cereal bar or snack a jacks.

Lunch consists of a tuna or chicken wrap, with a little mayonnaise for flavour - add paprika and chilli powder again to keep the fires stoked.

Tea will usually consist of Chicken stirfry, Chicken and salad/vegetables or sometimes substitute with pork.

I know it seems difficult, but if you stick at it you will notice results. Take a look at my before and after shots below. This was from only 6 weeks of dieting:

I hope you can see from this that there is obviously still a long way to go but, It's there is progress. I intend to stick at it and see how far this can take me. I'll be finishing my mad overtime soon, that will give me a chance to get back into the gym and make some real improvements!

So if you're looking to get your hands on some of My Protein's True Elle Diet all you need to do is follow the link:   MP MAX Elle True Diet

Good Luck!!

2 days of nowt

So it's been another two days passed and still no sign of me being in the gym. Work has at this moment taken over my life.

Last night saw a 14hr or so day, and tonight is shaping up for something similar. It's nights like this that leaves you damn hungry and wondering what food is available in the snack cupboard.

I've been trying to substitute food with liquid, so I'm either drinking coffee or water.

The gym is a distant memory from last week. Although I am eating sensible I find it a waste to have bought supplements that should be aiding me in both fat loss and muscle building.

I think that no matter what, I need a session tomorrow without fail. So shall I try and make up for the missed days? If so that would mean I'd need to work on the following to get caught up:
Legs
Arms
Back
Legs
Shoulders
Chest

Hmmm, I think that won't be happening.....

Weekend working, boxing and training

So Friday came and went and Saturday was a bit of a struggle as well.

Finished work then proceeded home, it was too late to train at that stage as the gym had closed for the night - so here is one of the first problems with working crunch.

For those of you that are unaware of what crunch time is in video game development, here is a little definition:

Crunch defined

So yeah it's a lot of hours at the end of a project, and for a lot of people it's unpaid. (As the QA Manager I get no OT pay, however my testers do)

Right, so I arrived home, ate some Chilli and Rice, had a beer and watched the David Haye vs Wladimir Klitschko fight. Now recently, I've not been impressed with pay-per-view boxing, but this was a decent fight. Unfortunately Klitschko fought extremely clever and kept Haye at a distance. I really hope that Haye doesn't retire and we can see him try this again, and learn to adapt to the long reach from Klitschko

So Saturday wasn't my best day for eating, though it's not been the worst. I'm continuing my supplements though like before, avoided protein on these days that I've not been able to train.

I hope to get some weights in today if I get away from work at a decent hour will have to rely on the trusty garage dumb bells

Cheat day Friday....and how

So Friday was a good day......until about 5:30 when it was decided to go out for tea with the wife and her family.

I did order sensible(ish) Some chicken wings to start and a sirloin steak so felt good about that... That was until my father-in-law sat down a pint of beer in front of me...and then another.... it was so tasty how could I say no (they paid, it's impolite).

So following that, there was almost a full tub of Haagen daz polished off.

So today I feel really guilty about this. I didn't train, nor did I take my protein hits. I decided that it would still be a good idea to get my creatine and glutamine in there as I'm on a 30 day cycle.

So how does all this fit into working in video games?
Well as I'm now more conscientious about what I order for food it means I am in total control of what I eat. And to add, working the late hours only leaves me one temptation, and that's the OT snack cupboard

So for years I've been cursing overtime for getting me fat, but now it might be exactly what I need to get trim.

MANDATE FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY - TRAIN!!!

Dieting sucks

Ok so the last time I posted it was Wednesday and I'd just finished off day 2 in the gym. Chest felt good, but I think that i'm in a 'test' phase as I need to find the right level of weight to start on. It might take a week or so of adjusting so I'm not expecting any real changes just yet (doesn't stop me looking in the mirror though!)

Thursday was a day of cardio, 5-a-side football. Now usually I have quite a bit of energy and can give it a good run out but this time round I was wrecked within the first 20mins. This must mean that somethings going on with the other training, right?

But, and this is a good but.... The creatine/protein shake kicked in mid way through and I found some tremendous energy (either that or I was imagining it all).

So that means I need to dose up earlier than I did to give it time to absorb. So today will be arms and abs, looking forward to it, it's quite satisfying working the arms, you feel big after it so that will be this afternoon/evening at some point.

As for work, it's been a bit of a manic time. Marketing is really motoring for the project and we're getting lots of positive feedback about the game, which really motivates the team (well my team at least).

We're moving into a massive push now as we gear up for the final submission but we should be motoring come the weekend (like the 2 puns in there - gives a clue to the genre!) and delivering what I hope to be our final master candidate. Soon the evenings will be our own again!

Until tomorrow

à bientôt

How do you decide when to move up in weight on your exercises?

How do you decide when to move up in weight on your exercises?

Day 2 - Now we're talking

Ok so 6:30am didn't happen...... I was actually up at about 6:15!! Have to admit it was a horrible experience but my wife had an important day today so she needed some help this morning. It was the excuse I needed to get my ass moving.

So had the morning porridge (which is minging), sorted the wife out for work, walked the dog then dropped him off at the in-laws.

Headed down to the other gym that's on the way to work.. It's much bigger and has more weights (thank god).

Workout was:
3 sets x 6 reps bench
3 sets x 6 reps incline bench
2 sets x 8 dips
15minute run on treadmill 2.4km covered

So it doesn't look like much, but I'm going to maximum gains so I'm lifting weight much heavier than I usually do and working it so I can just about hit the 6th rep on each set. Time will tell

Feeling good now that I've started. I'll see how I feel after putting in an 11hr day to sort this game out

Tomorrow no gym, 5-a-side football good cardio workout
